Task at Hand

The major task was to repair the damaged floor in the Springfield Unit of the company Dabur India Ltd. The floor was damaged because of the equipment being moved and used around the unit. The specifications were discussed and agreedon by the DCP team and consultant tofit in the budget and also to make sure that the quality of work is not compromised.

The area in all the stores comprised of two parts; one having forklift movement and the other was the rack area which only had pallet placement. The DCP team jointly workedwith a consultant and agreedon the specifications of differentthicknesses for different areas. The area was divided in two parts; 6 mm to be done on pathways (forklift movement) and 3 mm under racks (only pallets placing).

In Sugar Store, the area was segregated in two parts, 4 mm (pallet placement) and 2 mm (only man movement).

DCP Solution

In order to completethe task, the DCP team had to prepare the surface by chipping and removingthe existing finishes if any. The surface had to be cleaned properly to remove all loose material by scarification/grinding and vacuumcleaning the surface inclusive of all safety precautions. Next, the team had to repair cracks and construction joints by making grooves with width 5 - 7 mm and depth up to 10 mm by mechanical means, then applyingStrongcoat Primer and filling them with Griptop flooring system - 4 m x 4 m panel or as per pathway width. Then the pot holes were repaired by making the feather-edges up to 15 - 40 mm deep and making it in rectangular or square shape depending upon the depth of pot holes, then applying Strongcoat Primer followed by filling the void with reinforced mortar.Last but not least, the Griptop flooring system was applied over a layer of Strongcoat Primer or scratch coat.
