Ferndown Forest Golf Club Project

The Ferndown Forest Golf Club project involved the complete construction of a brand-new recreational facility, including an outdoor pickleball court and two padel courts as part of the newly launched padel and pickleball facilities. The client required a facility that combined modern design with high functionality, offering an exceptional player experience while withstanding the challenges of an outdoor environment. Materials and finishes needed to be durable and resilient, capable of handling temperature fluctuations, UV exposure, and other weather-related conditions without compromising performance or safety.

The pickleball court specifically required a surface that provided optimal traction, consistent ball bounce, and player comfort, while meeting professional standards for safety and durability. Given that the courts were to be open seven days a week, the materials also had to be low-maintenance and long-lasting to ensure reliable operation with minimal upkeep. Addressing these requirements was essential to creating a facility that not only met the club’s operational needs but also supported the overall vision of offering a premium sporting experience to members and visitors alike.

To meet the client’s requirements for a durable, high-performance pickleball court surface, DCP supplied Sports-Cote® Premium in three complementary colours, applied in carefully sequenced stages to ensure both performance and aesthetics.

The project began on a pre-prepared asphalt base, which provided a stable and resilient foundation for the coating system.

The first application was of Sports-Cote® Premium in Dark Blue that was applied to define the boundary areas of the pickleball court. This not only created a striking visual contrast but also enhanced court visibility and orientation for players.

Once the perimeters were completed, the Standard Blue Sports-Cote® Premium was applied to the centre playing area. This mid-tone blue provided optimal contrast with both the ball and the boundary lines, ensuring excellent visibility and improving player experience during competitive play.

Finally, the surrounding areas were coated in Sports-Cote® Premium Standard Green. This finishing step framed the court with a professional and modern appearance, while also blending seamlessly with the natural outdoor environment of Ferndown Forest Golf Club.

The combination of these three Sports-Cote® Premium colours created a vibrant, professional-grade pickleball court that met all requirements for traction, consistent ball bounce, player comfort, safety, and long-term durability. The chosen materials also ensure minimal maintenance demands, supporting the facility’s goal of reliable, seven-day operation.
