Task at Hand

The food security warehouses project aims to provide a stockpile for 3 million people for two years for each commodity being processed and stored. Accordingly, one of the main client's needs was providing a durable floor surface that is hard-wearing with high chemical resistance, non-toxic, and can be easily cleaned to be applied in the processing and manufacturing facilities to be constructed.

DCP SOLUTION

DCP Qatar provided Strongcoat 400 to be the perfect flooring solution conforming with the project requirements of a solvent free, high build, non-toxic epoxy floor coating providing long-lasting durability, an aesthetic finish and a hard wearing surface that would be able to withstand the constant loads over the surface throughout the product's service life, and making it ideal for an environment such as a food processing and production plant where high foot traffic, forklift traffic and other heavy machinery are present.

Airless spray machines were used to apply mixed Strongcoat 400 onto the prepared surfaces; the application process was done in two layers providing a total dry film thickness of 400 microns covering an area of 100,000 m2, whereas for forklift passing areas, Strongcoat 400 was applied in a total dry film thickness of 500 microns.

For outdoor areas, an additional layer of DCP's polyurethane-based protective coating and sealer Repcoat P was applied as a UV protection topcoat providing an attractive and long-lasting finish with very good protection to a variety of surfaces exposed to aggressive environments.
